Our Government is recommending that breast screening should start at 50 years old now. Interestingly the American Cancer Society recommends 40. My sister in law who is under 50 and just starting chemotherapy for breast cancer would disagree with the government's opinion. If the key to stopping cancer is early detection, why should anyone decide to wait another 10 years for something as simple as a screening?
Here is the scary part. There has been a lot of debate about how intrusive government will be once their health care bill passes. This is a perfect example of them wanting to control your life. The ONLY reason that the government would recommend to wait for a breast cancer screening is to save money. Obviously, it isn't healthier for women. This is a trial balloon floated out there to see what we will tolerate. Seniors beware... I am sure you are next. Oh yeah... they already want to cut 500 billion from Medicaid or Medicare. Too bad sorry.
